{"id":10049,"date":"2026-10-06T16:23:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T16:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agamiduniya.in\/?p=10049"},"modified":"2026-10-06T16:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T16:23:09","slug":"odisha-gujarat-cooperation-in-disaster-management-to-be-strengthened","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agamiduniya.in\/?p=10049","title":{"rendered":"Odisha-Gujarat Cooperation in Disaster Management to be Strengthened"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>\u2022Revenue &amp; Disaster Management Minister and Senior OSDMA Officials Visit Gujarat\n\n\u2022Joint Emphasis on Training, Knowledge Exchange, Joint Exercises and Workshops<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gandhinagar|Bhuj,October 6.2026 [ADN] :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>With the objective of further strengthening mutual cooperation through the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of disaster management, a high-level delegation from Odisha, led by Hon\u2019ble Revenue &amp; Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari, along with senior officials of the Department and Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), is on a visit to Gujarat.\n\nDuring the visit, Hon\u2019ble Minister Shri Suresh Pujari, accompanied by Special Relief Commissioner-cum-Managing Director, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), Shri Rajesh Prabhakar Patil &amp; senior officials of OSDMA, visited the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) and Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM) at Gandhinagar. The delegation also visited the Smrutivan Earthquake Memorial and Museum at Bhuj and gained insights into various important aspects of disaster management.\n\nOn the occasion, Hon\u2019ble Revenue &amp; Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari met Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and exchanged views on various initiatives being undertaken by both States in the field of disaster management.\n\nThe delegation also held discussions with Gujarat\u2019s Hon\u2019ble Minister of State, Revenue &amp; Disaster Management, Shri Sanjaysinh Vijaysinh Mahida, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue &amp; Disaster Management Department, Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, Relief Commissioner Shri Gaurang H. Makwana, CEO, GSDMA and DG, GIDM, Dr. Dhabal Patel, along with senior officials of the Department and disaster management institutions.\n\nThe discussions covered a wide range of areas including disaster preparedness, training, capacity building, use of technology, mock drills, public awareness, post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction. Experiences and best practices of both States in these areas were shared and discussed.\n\nWith a view to taking cooperation between Odisha and Gujarat in disaster management to a new level, emphasis was laid on capacity enhancement through training and knowledge exchange, as well as the organisation of joint exercises and workshops. These initiatives will further strengthen the disaster prevention, preparedness and rapid response mechanisms of both States.\n\nDuring the visit to the Smritivan Earthquake Memorial and Museum at Bhuj, the Odisha delegation gained an understanding of the role of Smritivan in preserving the memory of the devastating 2001 Gujarat earthquake, while promoting public awareness, education and preparedness towards disasters.\n\nOdisha and Gujarat have developed their own rich experience and institutional capacities in dealing with various natural disasters.
