New Delhi, February 6, 2026(ADN):<\/strong> Vedanta Aluminium, India\u2019s largest aluminium producer and the country\u2019s leading billet manufacturer, has expanded its billet production capacity at its Jharsuguda operations in Odisha, the world\u2019s largest aluminium plant, taking the total billet production capacity to 830 KTPA and placing it among the largest billet manufacturing operations globally.<\/strong> This significant scale-up strengthens the company\u2019s ability to supply high-quality products to customers worldwide, broadens its value-added product (VAP) portfolio, and further reinforces its role in supporting India\u2019s fast-growing extrusion and downstream sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vedanta Aluminum\u2019s billets, available in diameters ranging from 5 to 12 inches, are key semifinished products used in extrusion processes to create precision engineered profiles. These profiles support critical industries including infrastructure, transportation, renewable energy, electrical systems, consumer goods, and packaging<\/strong>. Owing to aluminium\u2019s high strength-to-weight ratio, recyclability and versatility, billets also play a vital role in enabling sustainable manufacturing and modern design solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion adds 250 KTPA<\/strong> of new capacity to the existing 580 KTPA<\/strong> billet infrastructure, bringing the total to 830 KTPA<\/strong>. This positions Jharsuguda among the largest aluminium billet production sites globally<\/strong> and reinforces Vedanta Aluminium\u2019s leadership in the Indian market, where it already supplies over half of the country\u2019s domestic billet demand<\/strong>. The billet facility is equipped with advanced casting and homogenizing technology from global leaders Wagstaff (USA)<\/strong> and Hertwich (Austria)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, a new 120 KTPA Primary Foundry Alloy (PFA)<\/strong> facility has been set up at the site, further expanding the company\u2019s PFA production capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Vedanta Aluminium is India’s largest manufacturer and supplier of premium grade aluminium billets for the global extrusion industry. It is also the first producer in India to offer low-carbon aluminium under the Restora range. With customers in more than 60 countries, the company offers over 25 high-quality variants of billets<\/a> and aims to further expand capacity across its operations in Odisha and Chhattisgarh to 1.25 MTPA.
