He said key proposal is to position Odisha as à “21-Night Tourism Destination”, encouraging visitors to explore the State beyond the conventional Bhubaneswar-Puri-Konark circuit. Odisha’s rich combination of spiritual heritage, Buddhist sites, ancient temples, wildlife, beaches, lakes, tribal culture, handlooms, handicrafts and cuisine offers the potential for extended holidays. Increasing the average length of stay and expenditure per tourist, alongside tourist arrivals, will strengthen hotel occupancy, tour operations, local transport, restaurants, handicrafts and community-based enterprises.
We are extremely thankful to the Government’s initiative to facilitate approximately 15,000 additional hotel rooms spread out across Odisha, the expansion would strengthen hospitality infrastructure and support emerging segments such as MICE tourism, destination weddings, spiritual tourism and leisure travel.15,000 additional hotel rooms would attract investment upto Rs.10,000 crore.
The proposed hotel-room addition could generate demand for approximately 45,000 skilled hospitality personnel (approximate 3 persons per room), hence attract more investment in establishment of more hotel management institutes, hospitality training centres and skill development institutions across the State.
