Bhadrak, January 26: (ADN) Dr.Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Hon’ble Minister, Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the combined parade as the Chief Guest at the District-level 77th Republic Day celebration held at Bhadrak .
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mahapatra said it was a matter of great pride and honour for him to participate as the Chief Guest in the district-level Republic Day celebration. He said that January 26 holds immense significance for the nation, as on this historic day in 1950, India became a sovereign democratic republic with the adoption of its own written Constitution, replacing the British constitutional system and establishing an independent framework of governance.

Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters and great national leaders, Dr Mahapatra said the people of Odisha would always remember their immense sacrifices, indomitable courage, uncompromising struggle, bravery and patriotism, through which the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India were safeguarded.

Highlighting the importance of the Constitution, he stated that Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar gifted the Indian Constitution to the nation, laying a strong foundation for democracy and good governance. Political freedom, social justice, democratic values, secularism, the establishment of a free society and respect for human rights, he said, form the core principles of the Constitution. The hopes, aspirations and dreams of crores of Indians are reflected in it, deeply rooted in India’s philosophy, tradition, heritage and culture.

Dr Mahapatra further said that India, firmly guided by constitutional values and the rule of law, is steadily progressing towards the goal of a ‘Developed India’ under the strong and visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, the Odisha Government has adopted a people-centric approach to governance and is implementing various welfare schemes for the inclusive development of all sections of society.
He added that the Government has set a clear vision to build a ‘Prosperous Odisha’ by 2036 and a ‘Developed Odisha’ by 2047, and called upon the people to take a solemn resolve on this sacred occasion to work together to make Odisha one of the best states in the country.
On the occasion, Dr Mahapatra also distributed prizes and certificates of merit to school and college students who excelled in various competitions organised at the district level as part of the Republic Day celebrations. Later, he visited the District Headquarters Hospital and distributed fruits to indoor patients, extending his warm wishes for their speedy recovery.
