The Oil Industry, under the leadership of Shri Kamal Sheel, Chief General Manager and State Level Co-Ordinator for Oil Industry, Odisha, today hosted a press conference to apprise the media and the public of the current status of petroleum fuel availability in the state. The event aimed to dispel misconceptions surrounding the distribution of 5 Kg LPG cylinders amidst the evolving situation in West Asia.

Shri Kamal Sheel emphasized that the fuel supply situation in Odisha is stable and under continuous monitoring by the State Government in close coordination with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). Citizens are reassured that petrol, diesel, and LPG are adequately available across the state, and there is no need for panic buying.
“All retail outlets are functioning normally, and adequate stocks are available,” Shri Sheel stated, adding that there are no dry outs at any LPG distributor’s end. The overall fuel situation is reassuring, with no shortage of LPG, Petrol, or Diesel.
The domestic gas supply remains completely stable, while the supply of commercial gas is returning to normalcy, with 70% availability already achieved. Supply is being prioritized for essential institutions, including hospitals, schools, hostels, anganwadi, and ahaar kendras.
To mitigate any disruptions, digital online booking is being strongly encouraged across Odisha to prevent diversion. The Oil Industry is also taking measures to support migrant labourers and students, with 5 KG FTL cylinders being actively supplied against ID proof without the need for address proof. Domestic connections are being facilitated through e-KYC. It was also urged to create awareness among public not to believe in misinformation and follow credible Government sources.
Earlier today, the Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, held a review meeting with the Officials of State I&PR departments to take stock of the situation and action taken to control black marketing, combat misinformation, and create awareness.
The Oil Industry remains committed to maintaining a seamless supply chain, and citizens are urged to remain calm and informed.
