Bhubaneswar, 31 | 8 | 2026 [ADN] Mr.Siba Mohanty, a senior journalist and regional editor of ‘The New Indian Express’, has been a victim of an accident. He was going to Janata Maidan under Maitri Bihar police station on his evening walk when a speedy car hit him. He has been admitted to the nearest hospital in a critical condition for emergency treatment.
According to information received, Mr. Mohanty regularly goes to Janata Maidan for his evening walk. On Sunday evening at around 5 pm, he parked his car near the main gate and was going to Janata Maidan. While he was walking, a car came at a high speed and hit him. He suffered serious injuries on his head, jawline, eyelids , hands and various parts of his body.
People gathered after the accident. Police reached the spot on receiving information. He was shifted to the hospital immediately in a critical condition. The Maitri Bihar police have registered a case and have taken the vehicle that caused the accident to their police station. The driver who caused the accident has been detained and an inquiry is underway. The driver in question is a student of an educational institution. He belongs to a respectable family, her father is a additional secretary of state govt. of Odisha. Therefore, the police have refused to reveal his name.
